Pastor Wal is a native of Haiti. Having received the call from God, he obediently answered. Before becoming Pastor of Y-Shammah Church, he proudly served his country, where he deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Pastor Wal is anointed to preach and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ, along with the gift of prophecy and prayer. He is a bible-based teacher and a spirit-filled man of God. Pastor Wal believes in Loving God and Loving People, as scripture tells us, and he also believes that operating in our natural and spiritual gifts by the power of the Holy Spirit are attributes every believer should strive for.
Pastor Wal studied at Campbell University, where he earned his bachelor’s in business accounting, and Shaw Divinity School, from which he earned a Master's in Divinity.
In 2017, Pastor Wal and his wife Kettia began an in-home prayer service where the Holy Spirit revealed and urged them to start Y-Shammah Church ministries. He and his wife, Pastor Kettia, have been married since 2011. They are the parents of four boys, David, Nate, Isaiah and Micah.
Kettia is a native of Haiti. She migrated to the United States at the age of seventeen to join her parents. She graduated from Dr. Phillips High School in Florida. Upon obtaining her high school
diploma, she enrolled at the University of Central Florida, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology with a minor in Health Science. In addition, Kettia matriculated at
Campbell University and graduated with a Master of Divinity with languages and with distinction. She completed the Jerry M. Wallace Interprofessional Servant Leadership Seminar,
and she is also a recipient of The Dr. Russell T. Cherry, Jr. Biblical Studies Award. She is currently pursuing her Licensure in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
Rev Kettia is married to Pastor Wal C. Flor and they have four wonderful boys; David, Nate, Isaiah, and Micah. Their family moved to North Carolina for Military duty and decided to make it their home state and raise a family here.
Rev Kettia has worked in the Public Schools of North Carolina as an educator. She also worked at Campbell University as a Graduate Assistant for Spiritual Life. Rev Kettia is the co-pastor of Y-Shammah Church, where she works collaboratively with the senior Pastor and different ministries in the church to Promote community building through love, prayer, service, and the
preaching of the gospel.
Rev Kettia aspires to be Christ-like and live out her faith daily. She strives to be kind, honest, and fair to the people that she encounters in her life journey. She values genuine relationships and like to make others feel seen and valued. She is empowered to empower and bring hope where there is despair through the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ, counseling, meaningful relationships, and community building.
After much prayer, Pastor Wal understood That God was calling him to start a church. He did not want to go on that path considering the challenges that starting a church entails. After much confirmation, the search for a conference room for prayer turned into a search for a church building.
On March 2, 2018, Y-Shammah Church held its first service. We are an independent Haitian church. We sometimes incorporate praise and worship English, Creole and French songs in our services, but most of our services are done in Haitian-Creole.
Our spiritual growth continues via prayer, Bible study and Sunday’s teachings. We are continually growing physically and spiritually while seeking God’s guidance. We solicit your prayers that we will continue to grow through the preaching, teaching and application of the Word of God.
Y-SHAMMAH mission is to build a strong faith of believers in Jesus Christ and to experience God’s Healing, Deliverance, and Restoration founded in the Word of God through the Power of the Holy Spirit. “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,[a] To proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; LUKE 4:18
